The Hedge Team
Tom and Charlotte Hedge, their son, Tom, Jr., and team member Monica Barth form a powerful real estate partnership, with the goal of providing top notch service and follow through for their clients, looking for homes in Sarasota, FL and the surrounding areas.
The Hedge Team consistently achieves top sales in the Sotheby Realty family of real estate associates. The team specializes in luxury Gulf-front and waterfront properties, country club golf and tennis communities, plus investments and corporate relocations in and around the Sarasota, Florida area. With four dynamic team members, each offering unique skills and expertise, the Hedge Team can handle any and all of your real estate needs in Sarasota, FL and the surrounding areas.
Biography
Charlotte Hedge – Born in Portland, Maine, and traveled the world as a military dependent. Graduated from Carlisle, PA, High School and went on to college, graduating from Trenton State Teachers College in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education.
Charlotte taught 5th grade until 1987 when she began her real estate career. In 1991 she was named Realtor Of The Year for the state of New Jersey.
In 1992 she and her husband Tom moved to Sarasota as full time residents and began their real estate career as one of the first husband and wife teams, and were soon joined by one of their three sons, Tom E., Jr., forming the Hedge Team. In 2001 Charlotte mentored Monica Barth who, within a year, became the fourth member of the Team. Monica brings to the team her knowledge and understanding of 5 languages learned while living in Switzerland.
Charlotte earned her Florida Broker’s license in 1994 and also holds many of her profession’s designations. She has her GRI (Graduate Realtor Institute), CRS (Certified Residential Specialist), CIPS (Certified International Property Specialist), LTG (Leadership Training Graduate), and RRC (Relocation & Referral Certification). She is
currently taking classes for her ABR (Accredited Buyer Representative) designation.
The Hedge Team is very involved with the community. Charlotte serves on the Board of Directors at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota County where she and her husband, Tom, have been members since 1994. Charlotte was President in 1999 and received Board Member of the year in 2000. She currently teaches knitting to the Club’s teens. Her commitment extends to other community organizations that she supports such as The Arts Council, Asolo Theatre Angels, New College Library Association, SPARCC, Women’s Resource Center, Mote Marine, and Golden Gate Point Association. She and her husband live downtown and work at the Sotheby Realty Sarasota office.
Tom Hedge was born in Hobbs, NM and lived as a military dependent throughout the U.S. and Alaska before it was a state.
He graduated from Pemberton High School outside of McGuire AFB, NJ and received an Associates Degree as a Millwright from Mercer County College. He and his wife Charlotte lived in South Jersey where they raised their three sons.
Tom and Charlotte moved to Sarasota in 1992 and set up the Hedge Team Real Estate group at Palmer Realty. They were joined by their son, Tom, and then moved to Michael Saunders & Company nearly eight years ago.
Tom heads up the construction and renovation part of the business and holds a Contractor’s license and, also having his CAM (Community Association Manager) license, has served on the Board at Pier 550, Golden Gate Point for the last 10 years.
Like the other Hedge Team members, Tom volunteers his time in the community as well. He is this year’s CVO (Chief Volunteer Officer) at the Boys & Girls Club in Sarasota and was board member of the year in 2003. He chaired the building committee and opened the new Lee Wetherington Boys and Girls Club on Fruitville Road in 2004. He is currently working on the committee to build a new Club in Venice, FL.
Tom and Charlotte enjoy spending time with their grandchildren and families, sailing, golf and traveling.
